sumitomo 315's are bald, time for new. I do not want to go with them again. horrible dry traction, wet traction wasn't bad. wear time was good, but lots of road noise and weird shimmys and inflation issues. I thought it was mine, got rebalanced many times, alignment, and new valve stems, did a bit of searching and many cars from 215's to my 315's have these problems.

don't mind spending money, but the only real 315 is the goodyear eagle f1's. on backorder everywhere. any good suggestions, I have to survive winter somehow? I was thinking of just going with nitto 555r's, I hear they are *not bad* in the rain. if everything is going to suck, I mind as well just go with DR's.

im in the same process of looking for new tires. i also have 315 sumitomo and im just gonna go with M/T drag radial 315/35/17. im in SoCal, the weather is not really an issue. if you go with drag radials i would suggest the Nittos, they last long and i never had issues in the rain.

these are the only tires I could find in the world in this size that did not have any hardcore information or reviews on them:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/2-New-315-35-17-...ryZ66475QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

they look like cheap shit and they're on eBay. I don't mind spending $400 a tire if I have to, but I want something that is going to do it all: be quiet, good wet and dry traction in a straight line and in a corner, and have decent tread life.

link to where I can buy? I can only find 555R's in that size...
what gets me is that drag radials have no ice/snow rating listed, but neither do the ultra high performance summer tires - 315's are not made in winter tires or even all-seasons (even sumitomo is listed as summer tire for 315, only all-season for front).
so if I'm going to drive something that has no ice/snow rating anyway, why not just go to the most mild drag radial?

i would just go with nittos. even they're drag radials arent bad in the rain. i put some nitto DR tires on my girlfriends car. shes had them for over 2 years with no issues in dry or wet conditions and they hook well at the track.

I have Nitto's and love them. Everyone I know that has them swears by them. They are the best DR's in rain.

We've had some serious rain down here as of lately and I like my 555r's. They held up nicely in the rain. O0 O0

i had the 275 nittos and they were awesome in the rain and dry, but then i got slicks and skinnys and bought 315s for the street and have sumithomos on them and i hate them... I am also debating, because the drs seem cheaper also..

I ran BFG DR's on all my stangs for the last 6 or 7 years and they ARE death in the rain this is true. I have the NITTO's on my L now and they do better but still are dangerous in the rain. But worth every penny at stoplights 8)

Hey if u are thinking bout the Nitto 555's look up Nankang tires. I been reading and talking with some friends about them. Apparently they have almost the same exact thread pattern but cost half the price. Its prolly worth looking into. Just thought id mention it.

Thanks for the input all. I think I'm going to try holding out for the Goodyear Eagles, they seem to be the only ones out of all of them that have any importance to anything other than straight line. We both still like trashing the car in the hills back here from time to time.
