I recently discovered that the front passenger side tire on the STI has a bulge in the sidewall probably from hitting one of the many pot holes up here this time of year. Right now it has Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 tires on it and they have been discontinued as of two years ago so finding a replacement is really hard. What I am faced with is buying a new set of tires for the summer which at the least is going to run me $500 which will cut into the fundage of trying to get the Cobra back up and running by this summer. My other option is to try and get another Dunlop M3 tire and I have found some on Ebay but the tire size is not exactly what I have on the car now. Currently it has 235/45/17 so would it be alright to run a 245/40/17 which I have found on Ebay?

I do want a summer set for the STI but right now I dont have the extra cash for it due to other obligations so its either to get one of these I found on Ebay or to cut into the Cobra fund and get a summer set. Ive tried calling all the local tire places and two subaru dealerships, they cannot get these tires anymore and no one has them in stock.

Thats AWD isn't it? I have been told that is a big no no on AWD cars. Supposedly you have to change all 4 tires at once or it screws with the sensors. Just what a friend has told me, I have never had the pleasure of owning an AWD car so can only go by hear say.

Ive been doing some reading on this since I posted it and it is a big no no. Even if it was the same size tire and a different tread pattern its not even recommend.
