I used a 255/45 on my OEM 17x8 01 polished cobras. I think the 16" ponies are 16x8 right? Or are they 7"?

255/45 is too small IMHO. Run a 245/50/16 or 255/50/16

I would prefer a bigger profile, but found a good deal on that size.

Do you even understand how tire sizing works? I ask, because most do not.

Yeah 245 is the width 45 is the profile (height of the side wall) and the last is the rim size. By the way I did find a 50 series and bought those today.

Nope.

If that was so, a 215/40/17 and a 275/40/15 would be the same height... which I can assure you, they are not.

The second number in a P-metric tire size, is the sidewall aspect ratio. In this particular instance, a 245/50/16 would have a sidewall height that is 50% of 245mm...

You said height, and that is wrong.

I'm trying to educate you. Say thank you, and move on.

If we are going there I asked if a certain tire size would fit on a a 16 rim. Not an lecture on how to read a tire size. So see your way out of this thread and educate yourself on some manners.
