tire sizing (probably beaten to death)

hey guys i was wondering if anyone has put a 255/40/17 Goodyear Gs-D3 on a 9" rim....im hesistant to put another 275 up front because of tracking issues but at the same time i dont want the front tires looking like ass....

Here are the specs on the tires: Section width 10.2", tread width 8.7"

According to TireRack it says the rim width range for that tire and size is 8.5-10" so I think it will be fine. Pricey tire tho heh.

On my old rims, I ran 245s. I just bought them for my Tri-Bars, 8". I didn't really have a choice but to run them. I think they had about 1000 miles on them. There is no way I could afford new ones. It worked fine, it just did not look as good as it should up close. When I bought my'03s, I stepped up to 275s. It will work just fine, I think.

It should look fine....not bulged or stretched.

What kind of tires are you running up front?

First let me just start off by saying I would NEVER recommend these tires. They are wayyy too expensive and don't balance worth a shit. They are Dunlop SP Sport 9000s (255/45-17), I have them because they were on my rims when I bought them and they were brand new so I ran them for a few years. Like I said though I would never buy them.
