I hate to be posting this but I need some input.

I don't know whether to keep my current Mustang (tornado survivor) and continue to restore it, or to just leave it how it is (in running condition with the exception of possibly needing a working MAF) and save my money to buy another mustang.

If I keep it speed it not my goal, reliability is. I may take it to the local drag strip for test and tune nights, or try to make an Auto-x or two a year, otherwise it will just be a daily driver/cruise night car. So money will be going towards maintenance and more of a "visual" aspect of thing.

If I decide to save my money and look for a new one these are the options I would like in order from most wanted to least, hoping for good-great condition with a decently low amount of miles, maybe a few mods:
  1. 94-95 cobra (White)
  2. A Four Eyed fox or Merc Capri.
  3. A 96-98 Cobra (White)
  4. 99/01 Cobra

Now I list the 96-00 last because I prefer the sound of the 5.0. I admire the 4.6's but I love the pushrods.

My budget right now isn't very large. I pretty much buy parts as the money comes in... Currently I make basically gas money ($45 every two weeks). I usually make and save my money during the summer so that I can focus on School during the school year, plus I love my job as an Resident's Assistant.

Any input is welcome... I'm not afraid to work on whatever I have, including what I have now, but I just feel like the cost to completely repair my current ride will be more than I expect.

Thanks everyone...

You'd probably want to change your 4th option to 99,01 cobra. I doubt you'd find a 2000 cobra R within your budget.

I don't know man. I'd probably keep what you have and slowly continue to dump money into it when you have cash available. That's a sharp car with a pretty bad-ass story to tell... or go with option #4. I'm bias though because of my cobra.

I agree with the story, and I love my current mustang. I just feel like the cost will add up to be more than What I could sink into a cobra.

The only reason I hesitate on option #4 is that 1) I know absolutely zero about 4.6's especially the 4v. 2) Bolt on new edges are a dime a dozen around here...

But anyways this isn't a thread for my opinion its for everyone else's!

I wanted an 01 cobra hen I was looking for my mustang but didn't want a 4v... They don't seem to hold up as well as the 2vs and are more expensive to fix.. I will have a 4v mustang one day when I can afford it. And you'll learn! It's not too bad!

My man keep it. Believe me it's a nice freakin car, and like deeplist said it's got a good story. IMO, every car needs a good story, and yours has one of the best. I wish mine was as good as yours lol.. But the only thing to tell about mine is that the guy I bought it from thought the o2 sensors were cat's... Other than that I got nothin lol. I think the more you start to make it "your own car" the more you'll really like it. Do little things, and see how much of a difference it makes in how you feel about the car. You'll love it in due time

I vote keep it. But don't ditch it for a 5.0 cobra. Waste Imo. Add the cobra stuff to that one if you want or be like them and move onto truly good parts.

I understand what Big Bore is saying, the 94-95 cobra's only difference was the badges, bumper, and the upper/lower intakes really...

I'm gonna keep her. Now I need to make a list of everything I need :p
