tranny on its death bed?

the car is a 96 gt with a 4r70w. basically ever since i swapped my cams a few weeks ago my tranny seems to be popping out of gear when i hit 4500 rpms at WOT. i thought it was the tranny fluid/filter but i changed both of them last weekend and it didn't do any good. i asked about in the 96-98 4.6 section and was told my tranny was dieing. i was also told to ask in J.R's section. what do you think J.R.? do you have any idea of what the problem could be?

Your converter clutch is likely bad, sorry for the late answer.

would a P0500 code have something to do with it? my haynes manual says it's part of the converter clutch system

PO500 is the Vehicle speed sensor. That might be causing the clutch to freak out.
