Tranny Problems

No transmission section?
anyway, i have a 97 Cobra with a Hurst short throw. For some reason, i cant downshift into 2nd unless im crawling or it grinds. The guy that sold it to me said they came from the factroy like that and you cant downshift into 2nd above 15mph. Is this true? Is it the shifter? Whats going on here?

The guy is lying to you. Provided your shift stops are adjusted correctly, the synchros and/or gears themselves are probably damaged, and it likely needs a rebuild.

i figured he was... it sounded a little odd
i have the factory shifter in my garage. would installing it do any good? im just thinkin if it doesnt happen anymore, its just the shifter.

i can stick mine in to 1st gear over 15mph. the only thing i can say is R i have to put mine in 1st then R. if i dont it will grind every now and then

^ As reverse has no synchros. Return to N, let the clutch out for a moment and try again. Move the shifter to R slowly. You'll feel the gear teeth trying to mesh. Best method I've found over the years.
