So i recently discovered this...to boot water actually gets through. That black tar sealant stuff from the factory has risen up and peeled away from the body in the trunk valley on the left side. So water can just go right through there.

Can i shoot something in there to seal it?

You can use any sort of rubberized sealant...But you first have to sand it down and use some sort of rust inhibitor to prevent that cancer from speading...I used rust away from the Paint scratch website it was under 8 bucks a bottle...

Have you checked down in the pockets on the sides too? My pristine 94 had rust down in them and was almost eating a hole through the quarters before I caught it.

I never agree with Chris due to the discrepancy in truth and E-myth, yet I will stand by this. POR-15 prepped, treated, and done correctly will take car of this getting worse, anything else will only mask it until you see it again.

Anything (within reason) that's prepped, treated (whatever that means) and done correctly would fix it. I fix shit everyday and work and have still yet to use POR15 and every car that leaves my shop has a lifetime warranty on what was done.

THat aside - POR15 is serious shit, I have a few friends that have used it on frames and it's nice. Hell, you can barely sandblast that stuff off.

And here we go. The tar stuff has been peeling back as you can see.

Oohhh, I couldn't even tell it was your trunk in the OP pics.

The shit in the trunk jamb is a liquid epoxy (basically) that's applied at the factory to prevent moisture rot. I've never had to re-apply that stuff so I'm a little out of my league here but I know you can get that stuff from a paint shop and re-apply it. If I were you I'd find a paint shop and have them take a quick look at it and see what suggestions they give you. It also couldn't hurt to go to an auto body shop and try to get some info about how to go about applying it. As far as the rust next to the epoxy goes, it looks like it's just surface rust so some 220 followed by 400 (so you don't see the deep scratches) should fix that. Obviously get rid of the rust before you fill the epoxy.

As for the rust inside the trunk - sand it down with 220 so there's nothing but bare metal where there was rust. Be sure to check the back side of that bracket, too. Grab a can of E-Coat (made by SEM) and spray the area you sanded. The Ecoat can be gotten at any auto paint shop. They make it in that color also so there won't be a noticeably shitty looking area.
