Turn signal issue

So tonight while I was with my gf I noticed my turn signals weren't very cooperative, sometimes it would work fine then others it would flash a few times then randomly stop flashing. It doesnt seem to do it at a certain time or when the wheel is turned a certain direction just whenever it wants. Could it be the relay?
