UD Pulley Install

I orderd a set of Steeda UD Pulleys and just got them in the mail, recently i had to replace my stock crank pulley because it was off balance. i believe a poor job was done when it was replaced and it was not installed properly. im leaking a bit of oil, and i think the installer failed to use high temp gasket maker to seal the notch in the pulley.

I will be reinstalling the Steeda pulleys myself and want to know if i should replace any seals behind the crank pulley before i put it on?

i've done mine twice. you might need a new front engine seal..

its not required, but its a good move to make. i would install the pulley first, and if it continues to leak oil, then i would worry about replacing the front seal on the timing cover. its a cheap gasket to buy from ford, but its time intensive if you ask me.

Thanks guys, im sure the oil leaks comin from the pulley being installed incorrectly, the write up i got said that if you dont seal the key slot on the crank pulley with a high temp gasket maker it will leak oil. hopefully i wont have to replace the crank seal.

Thanks, just needed to know what it was i was going to replace if i had to replace anything, now i know what to ask for if it continues to leak oil.

i finished installing the kit today, hopefully there will be no oil leaks, if there is then i know what to do next.

another problem arose after i picked up the puller at the auto store, my throwout bearing started making alot of noise. when i bought the car i noticed the clutch felt a bit off and made a vacuum type noise, i installed a clutch quadrant and firewall adjustor to get the clutch where it needed to be, but i guess i got to it a bit late.

im not too sure if this is the culprit but im assuming the constant pressure on the throwout bearing before i got the quadrant and adjustor on the car put too much stress on the bearing causing it to give out.
