Removed my upper intake today after noticing the coating is beginning to peel off. The inside is COMPLETELY coated with “soot”. Is this normal? Should I clean it out entirely? Or ???

Why didn’t I think of that? I put one on my Ram a yearish ago. I’ll have to look into that for the Mustang.
Best way to clean it out??

I’m checking out options. There are catch cans, oil separators (probably the same thing), 2-port, 3-port,300ml, 40l and more, baffled, different NPT sizes, $35-40, $160…. ???

Which one will fit and is best for my car?

UPR will sell you one that fit directly with your car.

Found it. Do I need the drain line kit as well, or is what’s shown in the picture for $129 enough?

you will need to drain the can from time to time depending on how fast it collects. With the drain kit you will simply turn the 1/4 turn valve and let it drain out into a cup. With out the kit you ill need to unscrew the plug on the bottom and have a cup ready to catch what drains. Depending on where you mount it that might mean you also need to remove the catch can first so it just depends on if it will work and help you where you hope to put it and on how much you value your time in the future vs paying for it now.

Good info to know, Scott. Thanks!!

FWIW, I have a J&L on my truck. Just unscrew the canister every couple months, dump into a used motor oil container, give it a quick wipe out and screw it back in. Easy peasey

That is all I do with mine as well. I wouldn't bother with the "drain kit"

if you have easy access to it then skip it but space gets tight in there fast. I actually have a similar drain hose on the compressor I have to run with my laser. The hose makes it too easy not to drain it for 5-10 secs anytime I turn it on so that there is never any water in there. If the kit were not on there I would have to pull it all the way out and get to the bottom, then turn it back down, then bring it back up to put the plug back in. The drain kit takes 2 secs both ways.
