Whichever it is, I'm dealing with a loud knocking noise, and it's getting louder.
Symptoms-
I don't believe it to be the throwout bearing, that's a whining noise, and I'm not sure what else it could be. Having my dad listen to it this weekend. Because the noise is getting louder quickly (quiet this morning, sounds like a diesel this afternoon), I'm parking it until I drive it to his house.
Symptoms-
- loud knocking from bell housing area
- can hear noise constantly at low RPM (drowned out at speed)
- noise goes away when clutch is pressed to within 1/2 inch of floor
- noise present in all gears and neutral
- trans shifts smoothly, typical TR3650
- clutch still good, not slipping, just grabs a little high
