Yes, we both have the 4.2 out of the f150 but monkeys is bored out.

Speaking of which, i see in monkey's sig that his makes 205 hp? I'm assuming that is at the wheels. Mine did 199 hp at the wheels N/A.

Anyone know what a 3.8 does for wheel hp?

If im correct, the v6 was switch from the 3.8 to the 3.9 in 04. Then in 05 they came with the 4.0?
The 3.9 is an almost identical engine i believe?

that sounds right to me. I seen a few 04 v6's on craigslist that were advertised as 3.9. always assumed it was a typo. I guess not! haha

i know ford manuals call them 3.9s too.... just dont know why.

and 145 would be a FANTASTIC number.

my engine was rated 215 at the flywheel from ford. with full bolt ons it made 194 to the wheels.

at 150 flywheel, you'd be lucky to hit triple digits (not being a dick... I had a V6 stang, too - and loved it ---- just stating a fact.)

Wiki search: A 3.9 L (237 cu in) version of the Essex V6 was introduced in 2004. It used the same 3.810 in bore diameter as the 3.8 L Essex, but had a slightly longer 3.464 in (88.0 mm) stroke.[SUP][1][/SUP] It was installed in a running change on later production 2004 Mustangs (starting October 7, 2003), though overall engine output was identical. Ford marketing information says that the bore is 3.8 inches and that the displacement is 3802 cc (232 cu in).[SUP][5][/SUP] The bore and stroke, however, work out to 3883 cc (237 cu in). Use of the 3.9 was short-lived in the Mustang though as it was replaced by Ford's 4.0 L Cologne OHC V6 when the Mustang was redesigned for 2005. The 3.9 continued on in the Ford Freestar minivan (successor to the Windstar) for a few years until production of the engine was discontinued in 2007.
