The motor might be shot? That shouldn't keep you from putting your top down though...I guess it would just look weird with one rear window up.

Yeah, it may be the bushings in the window. If you press the button can you help the window down?

I have replaced my both 1/4 window motors. I had to replace my LH big window motor last year. Had it done @ a body shop, so paid a lot for it! Can you see if it's getting power? Yeah, not sure why your top won't go down.

i didnt wanna put it down with just one quarter window up, it would kinda look retarded......but it looks like im gonna have to.......as far as helping the window down, i havent tried, ive pushed on it without pushing the button thinking it may just be stuck, but it didnt help........i just hope its not the motor, cause if it is, it will be sitting like that for a long time

I kinda thought that might be why. On doing stuff, you don't want to make it worse. I had mine fixed @ a Ford house & then a body shop. They can @ least tell you what's wrong with it.

it could be the switch they are cheap, hell the junk yard i got mine from didnt even charge me, just said they'll get me next time.

try putting a good switch in, in place of the window switch that wont roll down and see if it works. shouldnt take more then 5 minutes.

I bet its the plastic bearings in your motors, they wear easy. I had to rig 3 of my 4 up so instead of replacing the motors :laughing5:

Probably the switch. My passenger window does that shit everytime we let the car set for awhile. It eventually starts working again. I've never tried cleaning it but, I bet that would fix it. I don't think about it until I'm out driving. Maybe I should go do that now. lol.

^^^power is always hooked to it, its hooked up to the battery........or do u mean pull the panel off and put some power directly to the motor.....cause i doubt that will happen while im in

How do i go about checking or fixing the switch? junkyard part?

If your talking about the vert switch. You have to remove the arm rest and go in and under and use your finger to pop out the switch.

Thats just my guess because i had full access to the vert switch when i wired my fog lights to run independent.

edit: here you go.. find the article i used :eek:ccasion14: http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/fog2.htm

you can pull your switch panel off from you drivers door. then you can remove the switches from the plastic bezel. i think its 2 screws. once they are free you can pull out the switch for said window and jump the ports with a wire. i dont know witch ones are up/down power/ground but you can work that out by testing it with a probe find a hot side and a cold side see what happens once jumped.

if the motor operates you know its good and the switch is bad. if it doesnt then pull the 1/4 panel off and check the motor. and if there is no power at the switch anywhere then you have a fuse/wiring problem.

I dont see why he cant drop the drop and deal with the problem when he gets back? Its pefectly fine to drive with the top down and both rear windows up fully... just drop the front big ones and you wont look weird.

it's against the convertible code. The fashion police will pull you over within seconds and write you up. They'll let sprinklers and retarded smokers go by as an excuse but down several blocks like that? No! Why today a freak cold front came through. Since it's a big deal for me to put my top up and down I left it with the heater. Passed another mustang vert with his windows up. Everyon knows what an idiot he is. Just takes him one traffic light to put it up, does he do it?

I've had to replace 4 window motors, and one window regulator. The only time Ive suffered with having one window up, it was only up an inch so that I could pull it up to help it along. This is why I also think it's either a switch or wiring. A bad motor rolls slowly until it no longer rolls at all. If the regulator was bad it would roll up and down spasticlly. If it doesn't roll at all, then the window fell out of it's frame. Also everytime I had a bad motor or regulator you could still hear it trying, so power was still getting to it.

Replacing the rear 1/4 is the worst as you have to remove both parts of the rear seat and then the panel just to get access.

If you knew what you were doing, had a wiring diagram. You could make jumper wires and see if it works without the switch.
