I think they started stocking it in 2017. A bit ironic that you would need a working time machine to go buy one.

Flux Capacitor requires the stainless steel body of the 81-83 DeLorean DMC-12, V6 2.9L , to properly function.

It wasn’t around back then, but I wonder if it would work on the Cybertruck

That’s great! Not bad subtle marketing either, I’m going to think of O’Reilly next time I run to a parts store.

I literally have to pass an Oreilly, an Autozone, and a NAPA in order to go to an Advanced Auto store... ...which I have never done, because I think it’s a CarQuest warehouse. They act like they have a storefront, and they may, but... ...yeah. At least Summit and Pep Boys is a bit of a drive. The irony is that the current Advanced Auto is surrounded by dealerships where a popular racetrack from the 60s and 70s once stood. So much automotive history... ...but I would still have to drive there.

Used to live in DFW. Which track are you talking about?

Basically Lewisville, across 35E from the Vista Ridge Mall. If you’re a boomer, and lived in the area back then, it was also the location of the Texas International Pop Festival over 50 years ago. (Basically Woodstock for TX) The track was operated from 69-73, but practically sat till the early 90s, which I think was a little before this aerial picture was taken

Nah, before my time. I got into muscle cars in Fort Worth, lived not far from the old Green Valley dragstrip. Too bad the old tracks are gone...

Who says the old Smithfield track is gone? I just drive to that affluent neighborhood where it once was and do burnouts.

“Take it to the track!”
“...Ok.”

“Not in my backyard!”
“Why did you put your backyard on a drag strip?”

I honestly worry about the Texas Motor Speedway. That’s the one I’m near. In the late 90s, there was absolutely nothing out there! Suburban sprawl is so crazy now, people are building neighborhoods by it. Commerce, I understand, but neighborhoods? NASCAR, or any big event will be in town, and they’ll be soo many complaints about the noise! That’s how a lot of tracks die. It’s not just lack of funds. They’ll also complain about traffic. Like you didn’t know that many people would be driving to and from? It literally borders two separate highways. They did that for a reason.

Sorry. I just remember all the fun roads I used to drive my mustang on. ...and then they lower the speed limit again and again... ...maybe you shouldnt build a house on a high speed road, if you don’t want to deal with that. ...or, at least, understand why your house was so much more affordable, and accept it.

Yep. People build/buy a house near an airport or shooting range or dragstrip then complain about the noise. People buy houses near the freeway then demand noise barriers be put up at taxpayer expense.

I used to live in this one massively huge neighborhood, which was built in phases. The last phase bordered a shooting range. The place looked like two truck trailers bumped up together. They ended up building a third (yes, this place had three!) elementary school near it, and several houses as a buffer, with about 6 along its border. The range’s building is only a few feet from their fence. But hey, short walk to school.

It’s obvious what the place is, so you can’t act like you didn’t know, but somehow the place thrives. I think the reason why is because that’s technically a different town. You wouldn’t have town citizens complain about the place, you’d have citizens from somewhere else, who have no voting leverage. There’s something similar with a neighborhood that borders a dump. Different town.

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t want to live there either, but it is Texas. Do your research before you buy and don’t be upset that 100 feet away they’re shooting firearms and that 2,000 feet away they’re drilling for natural gas. I’ve seen mineral rights completely devalue themselves, and tons of tax payer money wasted on court cases regarding this issue alone. Google maps exist for a reason. It takes two seconds to see who your future neighbors are going to be. ...well, ain’t that nice. A green belt. Why would houses that back up to a green belt be cheaper than all the others?... ...why is it shaped like it could one day be a very important road one day? Just recently looked up Green Valley Race City. Place was developed in 2006. I think the aerial is from 2019. 13 years have gone by. No one in these $500,000 homes have asked what’s going on in the grassway?
