I once had a bronco come into the shop
Customer stated the vehicle felt like it had a vibration
It was weird it only happens while driving
Ran fine at idle
Or if you reved it up
I had star tester at the time working at the dealership
I decided to run a balance check on the engine
It seem to be cylinders cutting out spark wise and fuel injectors
Not saying its a case in yours but posable

Star tester will run a balance test on system only engine diagnostic
Gotcha! Yeah I pulled valve body off yesterday and it has metal in it… looks like I’ll have an evening of work today

replaced valve body and gasket and car shifts in drive etc now. Seems like a small amount of the vibration has gone away but it is definitely still there

The auto trans is supposed to be prone to have a vibration (higher mileage) caused by the tailshaft bushing wearing due to poor oiling. My 2004 3.9 V6 also has a driveline vibration. I plan to replace the bushing (yoke has play when assembled), but in between houses right now.

But if the balancer doesn’t fix it I’ll be pulling the trans again.

I see, I misread it thinking it was now a slight vibration, not that it was a slight bit better.

Come to think of it
I did have something like that in the transmission
It felt like it would shake more than a vibration
Like it was wanting go but something stopping
Another way to describe it real choppy

Any idea what exactly the culprit was?

Back in the day I'm not sure how they are now
But there probably is another name for it
Shutter valve on an automatic OD 84 F150
Its basically same as shift silanoid
But that was years back
My father was a trans and transfer case specialist
He would build transmissions in a day if he had parts
It did not matter what make
C6 and c4 I know real good
Auto overdrive hell no
T5 I'm good

I’m assuming that’s a piece in the valve body? I changed the whole valve body out. Still there. Seems to really doit only when I hit the pedal more than a quarter of the way. Car had a bad vibration when I first got it but the converter was stuff on the front shaft. So I changed the pump, clutched etc and put a new torque converter thinking that’d fix it but no luck.

Is the torque converter balanced and is it in all the way
Could be wobbly the bushing around the input worn out
Yes it went in fine. Bushing look fine to. Would it be possible it’s from a bad balancer?

If you see it with a wobbling id say yes
But shit now and days the way parts are made who knows
If you have another one on hand for the heck of it try it
