I have a 94 5.0 GT 5 speed, having a mustang (especially a 5.0 sn95) has been a dream of mine since my dad showed me what a mustang was when i was 5 years old. Now that i have one i really want the keep it running and performing in tip top shape. But due to an event that happened with it im starting to lose control of maintaining that goal. Since i have bought it it always idles kind of high, when i shift it doesnt make the noise i want to hear, its just always loud, no noise verified that it had shifted. Another problem i had is the other day i stop in a parking lot to see that it is pukeing antifreeze from behind the grille, i pop the hood to see its bubbleing and gushing out of the coolent res. i have never seen this happen before. Is there anything i should check? the only lights that are on atm are the airbag light and abs light. Suggestions? plz and thnx

Noise:

where does it idle? It hapy spot is above 600, under 1000. Do the RPMs drop when you shift? Have someone inspect your mufflers and cats. There's probably a vacuum leak or faulty sensor.

Coolant:

Does the car overheat? Does the gauge work? Have you burped the coolant? How new is the thermostadt? How about the hoses? After 10 years mine had aged in such a way that simply replacing these fixed my overheating issue.

+1 on the coolant. Mine use to run real hot, I have replaced every coolant hose, new thermostat and I flushed out the radiator really good. I haven't had a problem since. these cars are starin to get old. Gonna take a little more maintainence for them to keep in good shape

Are you filling the overflow tank up full? I did that & it threw up back up. It has a full line. Not that full. Since I filled up it right, keeping it's meals down. Prob not it, though.

It idles at 1000, i bought a new thermostat I'll put in on my next day off work. The hoses don't look too old so i guess the last owner replaced them. I let a friend drive it tonight to see what he thinks and he said my clutch might need replacing soon. My dad tells me to check the air filter which again I'll get to when i have time off work and someone at work told me of a little round "idle control solenoid switch"? that has a screen on it, when dirty can cause a high idle. Wish i had all data or Mitchel on demand, i don't like going off instructions from books

I have michel on demand, the problem U are discribing is over heating due to a cooling fan not runnig at Slow speeds or Idle [fan is comaded by ECM to come on with AC at the right high side pressure, and with engine temature about 240]
If fan is working have a good tech check for blown head gasket

yea, my oil isnt milky or even too black yet. Did an oil change on it about a month ago. Also its not like its constantly pukeing its anti freeze thru the coolant reservoir. I have been driving it to work slowly and carefully for the past 2 days and nothing has happened yet (other than the usual high idle, and the rpm will increase when i put it in neutral/push in clutch)

anytime the a/c is on the cooling fan should be on hi speed.

this is a hanging idle issue; try cleaning maf and iac to see is that helps.

puking coolant; when you try to pull codes one of the first things you should hear is the cooling fan cycle from low to hi speed for a couple seconds each. If you hear nothing then you fan motor is probably shot. If you only hear one or the other your fan motor could still be shot or you could have a problem in the ccrm.

if he had a blown head gasket wouldn't his oil be milky looking?

not necessarily. it depends on which way the h/g blows. somethime you'll get coolant in the oil, oil in the coolant, coolant in the exhaust, or exhaust in the coolant.

A bad head gasket Dos not always have water in oil
using water and over heating is a clasic sigh of a leaking head gasket [this will send Missleading info to O2 and engine will do strange things [ ie idle ]
