well, tonight tried to degree my CMS stage 3 blower cams. car spins fine with the adjustable lifters, i put the one solid lifter in just as i have read is the right way to check clearance, and what do ya know, i get a hit....anybody have any input that has used these cams? I have read TONS of times that guys run these cams with no problems and I also asked Jim over at VT and he told me I am more than fine....not sure what to do now

what pistons are you running (flycut) and what did you degree the cams to?

I have comp270's with a 234/238 duration and duff man up here is running them with no PTV issues at all. I hit up nick a modular head shop and he saying that im definitely going to need valve reliefs... You might try hitting them up and see what nick says but im almost 99% sure hes going to say you need some sort of valve relief.

Heres the contact info if you are interested in what they might have to say . Make sure you get a hold of nick though. Hes a mod guru. http://modularheadshop.com/Orderinfo.htm

The stg3 blower came are not even very aggressive compared to a n/a cam, tons of people run them without reliefs but none of them degreed them, just bolted in stock keyway set marks and good to go. You must have something off with the timing.

Yea Blower cams have a longer duration with less lift. But like Lee said you prob have one of the degree marks off on the bottom. Did you check TDC with a piston stop? I havent heard of ppl using a Solid lifter to check..... use a piston stop, its tried tested and true.

the duration on a N/A cam kills you because of the advance ground into the cam, blower cams typically dont have near the advance so you can get away with more duration or lift for that matter.

its proven these cams make power and dont have PTV clearance issues even without fly cut pistons, so its timing.
