washing microfiber rags

what do you guys do? I tried washing mine in the washer , but none of the wax came out of them.. I guess i'll just have to go buy new?

I always wash my microfibers in the washing machine. Sometimes when you start getting wax buildup you can actually boil the towels to bring them back to life. I learned about this trick from an actual microfiber manufacturer.

i have the same towels for years...i was them in big loads in the washing machine then dry on Low Heat.

Always dry microfibers on Low Heat to keep there Life

I usually wait until I get alot of them in a laundry bag and wash them all at one time. I dry them in low heat as stated above. I was told by a car detailer that you should not put any "bounce" (fabric softner) in the dryer.

yeah never use fabric softener's because then they won't have static, and u want static on them to attract the dirt and lint and dust from the paint

I work for Speed Queen, so I'm kind of a laundry nerd, but the reason that you do not want to use a bounce and such in the dryer is that they are made with a wax that will stick to watever you are drying. So by using them you are actually caking more crap on their than when they were put in. Really thats the only trick to washing microfiber. I know of a few places that have specific chemicals for cleaning and disinfecting them, but is primarily used in the dairy industry (not applicable for detailing). The best thing you can do is be religious about your drying and your pretty well set.

I use Pinnicle Micro rejuvinator.
get's them pretty clean.

real dirty cloths won't look like new.

I work at a plant where we manufacture 999 bajillion microfiber everything :banana:
So I just use new microfiber rags, towels, wash mitts, sponges... and alot more every time I wash my car :dancing6:

But yeah... as far as washing them, everyone pretty much got it right, gentle cycle wash and dry w/low heat with no fabric softner!

ive rarely had them come out perfectly clean on the first run.. usually takes me 2 or 3 trips through to get them perfect.. but i also wash them in the bucket of the car wash soap when im done waxing the car mainly to get the mega excess wax out of the towel..

but just like 95CALI-5.0 i usually wait till theyre all dirty before i get around to washing them.

Do yall keep like a bag of all your stuff in your car for like if yall are out somewhere or something and have to clean the car?
or like if you go to a meet/show and wanna do some small cleaning while yall are there?
I was thinkin bout gettin a bag and keepin it my trunk and keepin my towels and some quick detailer and stuff in my car

as for the towels
i've washed them in the washing machine
any settings yall recommend for best results?
i've never tried to the boiling thing but if it gets that intense i will have to try that

I wash mine in a bucket of hot water using dish washer detergent and it takes everything out, ive had the same towels for about 2 years now and they look and feel brand new

I need to go get a new bucket for washing my car because the one i have now is old and busted and there is grime in there that won't come out ahah

so do you keep some stuff in your trunk at all?

i dont usually... if i go outta town on long trips i might take the qwk dtlr and a towel but usually im not that anal with it..

i knew what ya meant.. what i was saying was usually i dont keep it with it.. i just dont see the point in it.. if i was that afraid of it getting dirty id have to do what my brother does with his 02 camaro.. it just sits in his garage and only has 17K since he got it 02.. only time it comes outta the garage is to wash the dust off or when theirs a 100% its not even possible for it to rain..

but usually the only time i take stuff with me is when i go outta town..

yeah tell me about it... i just washed my truck and stang the other day and theyre looking about as yellow as the center of a daisy.. and theyre both BLACK
