Weighing My Options...

Hey all,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, so my apologies if I'm in the wrong...

Anyway, down to business. I have my mom's old daily driver taking up space in my yard right now. It's a '95 V6 convertible. Current mileage is just a hair under 86,000. The engine was replaced at 50,000mi. apparently due to a recall. That engine currently has approximately 46,000mi. on it now (it had 10,000mi. on it at the time it was installed). As it was my mom's daily driver, it was never abused and was always regularly maintained. It's by no means in perfect condition, though. There are several holes in the roof, and then there's the reason it was sidelined in the first place - a bad transmission. Supposedly the car can't go over 60mph with it. There's no body rust that I can see, and the interior is in very good condition. The body has a few dings and scratches but nothing serious. I also have most of the maintenance records on hand.

Now, the car has been sitting here for a few years, and I think it's time something was done with it. I'm not too familiar with Mustangs, but ideally I'd like to restore it. If you guys think it isn't worth it, then I'll sell it or scrap it. One way or another it needs to get out of my yard, haha. See for yourself -

I can easily go outside and grab more pics of anything if necessary.

I've been tossing around what to do with this car for the past few months now, so any input is more than welcome.

I say part it out and then junk it. If it was a GT I would say try to fix it up...but you aren't going to be able to sell that car, especially in that condition.

Sell the parts, then have a junkyard come pick it up for scrap metal. Thats my opinion.

I gotta agree with JonBeast. It'd cost a good bit to get it restored and it just isn't worth it. You can probably get some money parting it out though and scraping it.

if you look around, your still going to spend about 2k for a new top and trans...

that being said, i sold my 95 v6 vert (looks exactly like this one.) for 3k. thats a 1k profit. in your case... assuming everything else is good.

that was only a couple months ago, but last weekend i picked up a 98 gt convertible, for 1400, the guy said it needed a motor, all it needed was a compressor, and a pcv valve. he said it was very hard to sell it, but my car sold in a week.

I say if you can do the work yourself. Fix it and sell it. Where are you located? Id give you 500 if you didnt want the trouble. there is a car local here just like this that im trying to get a hold of to flip.
