I had to slam on my brakes today and when I did I noticed my gauge dropped all the way down like instantaneously then back up, almost so fast like when you shut the car off. Never saw this happen before and can't seem to make it do it again

I wouldn't be concerned with it. Remember the oil pressure gauge is not really a gauge at all, but more less just an idiot lamp. It either senses enough pressure to put the needle in the middle, or it's all the way to the left. Those are the only two positions the needle has. If the oil level is full, don't worry about it. I've noticed that sometimes ABS can mess with other electronics.

Aftermarket gauge is the way to go! I wouldn't be concerned with it, especially if you cannot replicate it. If you start seeing it happen frequently, then it may be time to check things out.

I had a problem like this in my '98 Vert, it started off just as yours is, slamming on the brakes - needle dies. THEN about 6 months later the weird $hit started happening: The car would be warmed up, running for about a half an hour, and whenever I would come to a stop the gauge would flicker the entire span of the gauge, sometimes it would flicker so violently you could hear it over the loud radio. I found a set of gauges in a wrecked 97 at the local Pick n Pull for $15, slapped them in, never had a problem again!
