just replaced my alternator not to long ago, underdrive crank and over alt.... ive been using the a/c lately and now when i got to turn it off the voltage jumps sky high (18 or more possibly, stock gauge) and the battery light comes on, checked on the connections and they seem good, belt system seems fine?? whats the deal..... can these alternators not handle hard launches or what? last thing i did before it happend was hammer it from a roll at around 10mph

whats the deal?? im stumped, never had an alternator of mine or a customers OVER charge

Thats weird.

I had some battery/alternator problems in my bronco for about three weeks. Turns out the local O'Reillys (both of the ones around me) had gotten bad alternators and they caused all sorts of trouble. One overcharged my battery so much that it blew the lids off and acid everywhere. Now underhood looks like crap...

But hcekc your alternator, you never know...

Have you actually checked the output to see what its laying down? Voltage regulator could be bad. I replaced mine at my dealership but got the alternator from CAP eight months ago. Went 3 hours north for the Fun Ford Weekend a few weeks back and the alternator died. So I was out in the middle of nowhere with no tools. Had to drive 15 miles to an Autozone, buy a new alternator and tools and install it in the parking lot. Kept the core and got a free replacement from CAP when I got back then returned the other one locally. Most alternators from parts stores come with a limited lifetime replacement.
