I have the Mach 460 in mine. I added an 8†Bazooka Bass Tube about 2 years ago. It blew over a year ago, but I still have the wires hooked up! Since then I am getting a strange noise! It is not really road noise because it does not reach a higher note when I accel. It sounds like my whole system is frying, then gets a high pitch. I can only describe it as a bomb going off, but it does not really sound like that. Say, I turn the music up to over-whatever it; it just gets worse! It did it right away but I could turn my radio off and back on and it would usually go away. It stays now!! Sorry, I used to install systems for people in my town just as a hobby. Now I know nothing! I cannot even say the right words! Do any of you know what I am trying to say? Also, do I need top move this to the ‘Electrical’ thread? I get confused, sorry! It's driving me freaking nuts!!

Yes, I just thought of that while typing this. I think the ends are all wired up and stuff though! I forgot the phrase I am trying to say. It is not just wire touching metal, I think I meant.

I'd unhook that sh!t man.

A blown component can mean one of two things - an open circuit which would cause any troubles because it would draw no current from your system.

However, if it's a short it could potentially draw a LOT of current (an infinite amount given the opportunity). A lot of current running through a wire means a pretty strong magnetic and electric field. The electrical field could potentially have significant enough harmonics in the FM band that your car antenna could pick up (if it happens while listening to the radio.

The magnetic field will cause interference with the rest of your system and could sound like static, whining, high-pitches, etc.

Also, with a lot of current flow, the safety mechanisms on your amp/unit could be clicking on/off or making weird noises.

The moral - get that blown crap out of the circuit.

If it doesn't solve the problem maybe I can help you pinpoint the actual problem.

I just tried unhooking the positive lead coming from inside my engine compartment! It is in with the fuses near my battery. It is on the side, kind of. The screw will not budge!! I have to find some DW-40 maybe. I'm trying!! That is all I can undo myself.

When I bought my car, the chick said in the past she had a system in it. I bought the bass tube when I was living in OKC @ Circuit City. They did not run me new wires; they just went off the old stuff. I always wanted to go and have it redone, I just never did. I unscrewed the lead positive wire and cut it off inside the engine bay. That is all I can do to it! It did not make it worse, but it sure did not help! The tube has been out for about 2 years, maybe. I kind of know what needs to be done; I just have no clue on how to do it. All of the old stuff is just lying under my trunk mat. Sorry I am not much help! Thanks!!
