Congratulations. I would like to see more people doing this kind of work themselves. It just takes a little reading, looking at some pictures, and paying attention to what needs to come apart. I've always done my own work, first because I didn't have the money to get it done, then to save the money even when I did have it. There's also that great feeling of pride.

To replace the head gaskets you don't need to pull the engine, but it's good practice.

Well One it has ARP studs. So that makes it harder to pull the heads. And the other thing is the motor leaking oil all over. So i wont to reseal it

the best way to learn is to do it yourself. i havent pulled the motor out yet (and dont plan on it anytime soon) but i did have to pull off a head due to a broken bolt. That is one reason when i put it back together i used arp bolts instead of studs because i didnt want to have to worry about that.

Good, I was wondering why you would pull the whole engine if you were only doing the heads. Good time to replace all those gaskets.

The first engine I pulled was in my '68 Charger. I pulled out a 400 that someone had dropped in there that burned almost as much oil as gas and dropped in a 440 Interceptor. I did this before I ever even changed an alternator. Later I pulled this engine and rebuilt it myself. I also built the 331 stroker for my wife's '66 and I am going to be building the 351C for my car. I learned how to do 85% of that stuff from reading car magazines.
