what cam to choose?

I want to pick a cam that would give me that aggressive idle at a stop light. looking to hear that rough idle that older muscle cars has, like it sounds like its going to die it idles that low.

or what should i look for in a cam when im buying something.

Yeah, sound is what to go for when buying a cam... :wall:

If you're looking just for sound, then buy anything you come across.

In order to pick a good cam for your setup we need to know what heads and intake you're going to be running with it.

Well the machine shop said something about some afr heads but im on a budget, cause i still gotta pay for college. but Im going to do some research on a 3 angle valve job on the stock heads.

If you're running stock heads the stock cam is fine. Putting a cam that "sounds like its going to die it idles that low" would make your car considerably slower than it is now.

Look into Crane's "Thumper" cam series which do just what you are looking for. Power will not be optimized with stock heads, and doing only a 3 angle valve job will only net a marginal improvement.

I guess so, but it's kind of dumb to spend several hundred bucks on a cam JUST for sound.

I have mac headers and a mac h-pipe, when i unbolt the mufflers and leave the h-pipe open it sounds like a big block,and you can hear every cam lobe...... so try that first :hammer:

quick question for you What else do wheels give you besides looks? (weight savings when it comes to racing wheels) So a basic SAT question for you: Wheels are to looks as cams are to sound? You would fail this test horribly if you answer 'True'.
