I went to fill up my gas tank and fuel started coming out were the neck meets the tank. I ran the gas down just a little and it seemed to stop. The weather has been dry around here the past couple of days and so I checked my tank today after I drove around for a bit and there was fuel around that neck. I did not see it dripping but it was definetely not there before I started driving. So when it sits in the driveway and is just idling it does not leak. Any suggestions? Also if the tank needs to be pulled how difficult is that? Work has been crazy and this is stressing me out. :noes: Any help would be appreciated. :dunno:

my 96 had the same problem. the filler neck leaked at the seal where it goes into the tank. it wastes a lot of gas. i noticed my car was using a lot more fuel than normal, then one day as u pulled out of the driveway my dad noticed a ton of gas leaking as i drove away.

we had to drop the tank, undo the filler neck from the body and the tank, and replace the seal. you can get it from ford. took a little over an hour, kinda a pain in the ass.

hope this helps

Its that rubber filler neck "donut" thing. It dries out and then starts to leak. Costs 10-20 bucks or so at the Ford dealer.
Since you have to drop the tank its a good time to maybe put in a fresh and/or upgraded fuel pump. :afro:
