all of the guys in sales are more than helpful and they can tell you anything you need to know and help you with your decision. they'll explain the design of the block and everything so you can see why so many people feel that it's superior to those offered by other companies.
Do you work for World Products or TheEngineShop?
Do they ever have sales on the World 351W blocks? I've been wanting to build a 445ci windsor stroker since the new World blocks came out, but the price of the block is really a limiting factor.
Paul.
Both companies are the same- it says world products on my checks, but the engine shop is more of our "store front" if you will-
The man-o-war blocks come in 3 deck heights- the taller deck height is what we use for the 351-w type builds. the highest C.I. ford crate motor we currently offer is 460 so yes, we have a block that is able to suit your build;
this is what an exerpt on our site says "The block is available in three deck heights, which enables the 8.2 blocks to be used in 302 style applications (Mustangs, etc.) while the taller 9.2 and 9.5 blocks are replacements for the 351 style engines used in Ford cars & trucks. The 8.2 deck "C" blocks have 351 distributor and oil pump location, so you can have clearance for longer stroke cranks. This easily permits strokes greater than 3.47". The 9.5 deck blocks have room for 4.25 " strokes and 460 cubic inches!"
in reality, you can bore out to 4.200 and use a max stroke crank to get 470 CI
and the nice thing is that all of manowar the blocks are 4 bolt mains on all 5 caps.
we have a 9.5 deck with a bore 4.169 (oversize for our applications which have a max bore of 4.125) that is on clearance. originally it was $2370, but now its $1185.
I dont know much about it as i dont handle sales, but what im telling you is from the websites. if you wanna call to find out more, call 631-737-0372 and ask for sales. tell them you're interested in the blocks on clearance from the engineshop website- find out if you can acheive your 445 or higher with the 8.2 deck blocks so you dont have to deal with the 351-swap annoyances of having a taller deck. that 9.5 deck is pretty oversized as far as the bore is concerned and I think it will require machining to get it to work with available pistons.
