And how do I get it the F out of the way so I can get the valve cover off?

Bradley's right. I'm sure there's an easier way.. but you could remove it from the clutch fork and fish it out of the engine bay/twist it up and out of the way. You might also try seeing if there's a way to detach it from the other side of the firewall.

You really just asked this question? I guess you have to learn somehow. Unhook the cable end from the pedal under the dash, then pop it out of the firewall

Hey now. the reason im on here and asking questions is because you're right, i don't know as much as i'd like to about Mustangs and cars in general. Please don't insult me for raising my hand in class every now and then.
However, i do appreciate your help

If you have a broken chain you wont necessarily be able to tell by only taking off the vale covers. To really track it down you're going to have to pull the front cover. Good luck with that becasue it does take an experienced DIY'er to get that far.

^ ?? Explain.
by taking off the valve covers, i can not only visually see the timing chain, but also check to see if the cams turn freely

if the chain somehow managed to get mangled down by the crank then everything will look peachy up top by the cams.
