What should my next upgrade be?

So I am enjoying my new unported Cobra heads and Explorer intake, K&N drop-in, MAC Prochamber, JBA shorties, TwEECer (advanced timing 5 deg, stock Cobra tune) and bypassed AC and Smog pump. This really woke the car up. Being on a really tight budget though, I have to really plan for my next move. My last upgrade will be a KB blower and I will do gears but not until next spring, but in the meantime, I want to do some bolt-ons. I have decided against underdrive pullies. I don't think a CAI will give much improvement but I may be talked into it if someone can give a real world experience of HP/torque gains at the dyno. It seems like a bigger MAF and TB might help but what size? So of these three mods, MAF, TB, CAI, which one should be first and why?

Gears are a 10X better mod than your gt40 stuff.

Why are you holding out on yourself? Get em in and done for like 300 bucks. :dontknow:

Gears, then TB. Don't spend the $ on a CAI, just slap on a good filter in there

Where can I get gears done for $300? The gears themselves are like $200. $100 installation?

So do gears first, then save for the blower and either do MAF/TB when I do the blower or sometime right before or after?

absolutely. And depending what gears you want sometimes you can find deals on them, unless you have a hook up the install will probably be more than $100. After the gears you'll want to do maf, tb, fuel pump, injectors, blower and then get that puppy tuned.

Car has 80,000 miles on it and was babied it's whole life. Should I spring for the carrier bearings and seals? Trac Lok clutches? That would increase the cost by about $200 but would give peace of mind and a bit more longevity/reliability.

A car with all the stuff done to it like you've done, up against a 5 speed plain jane GT like mine with a gear, and exhaust would whoop up on it. These mustangs love 3.73's, it should be the number one thing to do period

Out here the install alone is around $300. I've been thinking about buying the parts for the gear swap and have it done when I upgrade my rear brakes

I bought a $30 micrometer and did it myself. Not impossible man. :eek:ccasion14:
I spent like 149 on the gearset. And somewhere near 70 for the bearing kit, 50 I think for the frictions, and maybe 20 on fluid.

All from ford motorsports.

I might give it a shot if there's a good tutorial out there somewhere on how to set the gears up. I have set gear lash on the M61A1 20mm cannon in the F-15E Strike Eagle a few times so I don't see how this could be any more difficult with good instructions.

Gears. That should always be the very first mod.

Oh, and hook your A/C back up. You don't gain any horsepower from bypassing it, you just get sweaty balls.

Fix the A/C hose. I never understood why people are so concerned with a few pounds in a streetcar. Who cares? It might save you .03 seconds in a quarter-mile drag race... what difference does that make for a streetcar?
