you should cut a couple tenths off or so.. The biggest thing that's going to help your E.T.s and overall driving is practice.. With a sticky tire
you should have no problem getting into the 13's with gears..

4:10's with a 5.0 may be to much gear. You don't want to run out of motor at the big end. Not only that but if your car is a DD your milage will take a big hit, and your engine will be working harder than necesary on the highway.

5.0=3:73's IMO

I get no traction with stock engine and 3.73s, you won't stick it! Also, how the heck are you running 14.4 on a STOCK geared 5.0L? Best I have seen are 14.9-14.8, a RARE 14.7...

:icon_rr: A basic rule is on the tire "height" because you will lose some of that bite with a tall tire ! Another thought is 4.10's for a manual and at least a 3.73's for a A/T

its the other way around. 4.10's for the auto, 3.73.s for the manual.

4.10s work just fine on my car.

Grabbing isn't too hard for me, I hooked better than a fairly stock 96 Cobra I ran up on at a red light... and I'm still running skinny stock sized tires....this is my DD, and gas mileage isnt THAT bad. Obviously I don't hit the interstate everyday, but in normal driving, 4.10s are a lot better than people give them credit for IMO.

Get 3.73s at least, but don't be afraid to jump up to 4.10s.

Wellmy good buddy has a 94 Gt with a cold air and some exhaust and a 5 speed.. Mine is a 98 GT 4.6 AUTO with Cold air, O/R X, SLP mufflers and 4.30 gears.. He ran a 14.4 @ 94 and I ran a 14.4 @ 95... I am sure I could have got him better but mine always hits the rev limiter during the 1-2 shift... THERE IS MY PROOF OF THE 14.4

Dang, I wish I was in an area closer to sea level. New 2005+ GTs run 14.6-13.9 here, depending on driver. I haven't run my car(stock with 3.73s) but Im thinking around 15.0, 14.9...

Are you sure? I was told by my auto mechanics instructor years ago that it was the reverse. He said with up to 12 ratio's available in each gear range on an auto, it doesn't need as low a axle ratio as a manual to accomplish the same thing.
Hence the term gear "range".

haha...they are definately quicker than a 14.0 here for a s197...as far as sn95's nearly stock with stock gears, you'd also be suprised by that as well. See sig...both cars have springs only and the rest of the suspension is totally stock both with paper air filters. There are a few cars to have ran great times with little done, just takes practice.

4.10's for auto and 3.73's for 5 speed due to the transmission gearing.

I recently installed 4.10's in my 07 and love them so far but also keep in mind that car has a 27.5" tall tire too...it'd probably be about equilavent to a sn95 with stock height tires and 3.73's.
