Alright so I'm setting at the house just spitballing some things and I was bored so I figured I would see what some of your guys opinions are on this. So this coming May I will be graduating from College...now along with graduating hopefully I should graduate to a little higher payscale as well. So what I'm debating on is this: I really love my SN and I know there is all kinds of different builds I could do on it and I could make it very very nice, or I could buy something like an 03-04 Cobra, S197 GT, or like a C5 Z06 or something around that class and do some small things to it. Now each option definitely has it's pros and cons, if I kept my SN it will still be a 15 year old car and will still ride like one too lol, however I would be payment free and could make some good horsepower numbers for alot cheaper then buying a different car. If I bought something a little newer I would have to take a loan out and make payments every month but it would be more reliable, more comfortable and be more up to date and I could make good horsepower numbers with relatively light mods. Now keep in mind neither option would be my daily driver it would be a weekend car.

So which would you do if you had to choose?

03 cobra ftw lol you'll still have a little bit of a retroish car but have great hp. I hate the s197 personally I think it's the ugliest mustang made. And a z06 is cool but I'd stay awy from it just cause of the two seats, I always like having atleast four. Also I'm a crazynew edge fan lol. Just waiting on the money and I'll do a bit of an upgrade from my 95 gt. Get what u want tho bro whatever makes u happy seeing in the driveway

Yea it's kind of weird to think that the 03-04 Cobras are starting to get "out-dated" lol...but still it would definitely be a huge step up from an SN for sure lol.

If I knew I could sell my SN for enough money and get a nice 03/04 Cobra, I would. I tried to do that and buy my friends Mach 1, but I couldnt get a high enough offer on my car. Is your car paid off? If it is, just keep it!

Yea my car is paid off...but at the same time I could sell it for way more then what I have got in it and use that as a nice down payment on something newer...

You really think you can sell it for more than you have in it? Good luck, it never works that way, unless you got the car for free lol. Mine has 34k miles and the most I was offered was $7k with the new wheels, springs, shocks.

YOU'LL NEVER GET MORE THAN YOU PUT IN IT. PERIOD. just keep your car as a nice DD or make it into a track/weekend car and go wild with it and get a nice, newer DD. but id hang on to your SN. looks good, paid for, and you WILL NOT get much for it lol

Well I'm not gonna get into specifics on how much I have in it...but yes I could very easily sell it for more then i have in it lol

Yea that's true but it's not like an SN95 is out of the ordinary either lol

me personally i would probably keep what i have and use that extra money from your new job to mod it up some and put the rest in the bank. im probably not much older than you, but man i sure wish i had back a lot of the money ive wasted in the last few years!

but if you looking cobra, i would bet there will be more and more of them for sale soon, and prices coming down some. they will hold a value somewhat because of being limited but i see more people selling and trading their termi's for the new GT's

Yea I could definitely see that happening with the new 5.0's hitting the road...and I know this isn't gonna be for a while probably next summer at the soonest but I really want people's opinion on this. I'm curious if the guys with 9, 10, 11 second SN's are happy or if they could go back would they have just bought something like a Cobra instead. But thanks for the input man.

If I was you, keep the Snive, upgrade it as you please, and buy a nice daily. Something newer that'll ride good and is cheaper to maintain/operate

+1. assuming you can find a good paying job in this economy fresh out of school the last thing you want to do is get more debt. keep the sn95 and slowly upgrade while saving. put that money towards a solid daily driver that is comfortable and easy/cheap to maintain. buy a house with a garage, then start the modding.

I'm the kind of guy who enjoys the work I put into my car and how far I've come along with it over the years. While I could have probably bought a sweet ride for the money I've put into my Monte Carlo, I love that ride, I have so many years of good memories and work into it, that means more to me. Even now my Mustang is growing on me more and more..
If you really like your SN, keep it, work on, and be proud of what you end up with. Or you could just buy a newer ride that all you've done is put gas in and be like the other losers :p lol

I have a ten second (well was before I tore it down for the new combo) ride and I take GREAT pride in the fact that I built it from the ground up. Keep what you got and build it the way you REALLY want it to be. Think of potential car payments as MOD money...forumulate a plan, start your tear down, buy parts, begin to assemble, change your mind, sell parts you just bought for less that what you paid, buy even better parts, resume assembly, change you mind, sell parts yet again for less than you paid, buy even better parts, resume assembly...complete assembly, drive 6 or 7 times, go to the track, reach your Elapsed Time goal, decide that was too easy, want more, sell off complete combo, buy even better parts, wonder what happened to your original goal and why you weren't happy with previous combo, remember why you weren't happy with your previous combo, resume assembly, drive 6 or 7 times, go to track, shatter your original et goal, smile ear-to ear.....REPEAT!

Thats pretty much my ride.

your mustang is paid off!!! If so, it owes you nothing! keep it, modify it as you please! but, make it comfortable! I daily drive my 96 cobra and I think it's very comfortable! so I dont get it when people say that these are not comfortable daily's... is it gonna drive like a 4 door lincoln? no!!! but i think my car is very comfortable as a daily! get a nice Honda daily drive that and do some comfort upgrades on the stang! an 03-04 cobra irs rear will help make your car alot more comfortable as a daily! for about $2000 plus Sn95's look sick with an IRS exhaust :la:
