Whats Wrong

On my brothers 94 GT once i start the car it makes a weird whining sound. when i push the clutch pedal all the way in the sound gets worse. when engaged only 50% it completely stops. When driving it the car makes a lot of whining noise and drives weird. is the clutch gone or what?

sounds like throw out bearing is shot. and what is "driving weird"?

it makes some sort of whining sound when driving and the clutch pedal has little to no stiffness when changing gears. if its the throwout bearing doesn't it require the same amount of labor replacing that as it does replacing the entire clutch?

TOB is the exact same amount of work as the entire clutch. if you swap, use a ford racing heavy duty TOB.

so like a whirring noise that definately sounds like a TO bearing.... The little to no stiffness could be a failed TO bearing and also maybe a pressure plate failure... The pressure plate is what your feeling when you push the clutch in. Your TO bearing rides on your Tranny input shaft and is held in place by your clutch fork.... I would say go ahead and do a clutch kit... While your at it replace the TO bearing with a all metal one from ford don't use a Timkin there plastic and i will never use another one again. I just used one on my new clutch i put in and it does nothing but whine like my old one. While your down there go ahead and replace the Pilot bearing also... if your feeling ambitious you can also change out the rear main and the tail shaft seal.

most smart people replace the t/o bearing, and pilot bearing when the clutch is replaced.

Yeah it's best to just do it all at once and not have to go back and do it over.

It could be the TOB arm too. I know I've change my TOB twice and still make the chirp, maybe because I didn't get a good TOB.

so would a new clutch kit completly fix this problem?

Yes.

Replace:
- Clutch
- Pilot Bearing
- Rear Main Seal
- Throwout Bearing

Resurface flywheel. Inspect main bearing retainer for galling or damage and replace as necessary. Replace trans fluid if you've not done it.
