How much torque can a stock T5 handle? How about the stock clutch? When I eventually get around to modding my engine, I don't want to spend all kinds of money just to have my drivetrain crap out on me...

They're "rated" at 300ft-lbs...which is close to what a stock 5.0 makes anyways....

Hmm... I was gonna start by shooting for 300+ hp/torque at the rear wheels... Which would be like 350 at the flywheel. Does this warrant moving up to a tko or a tk56 prior to doing anything? I wasn't planning on swapping the trans until way down the road.

if you have the money to upgrade the tranny then it wouldnt hurt you at all, for later projects such as power adders you will probably want to beef your driveline up. My stock t-5 lasted only about 10k with my crate motor rated at 345 @ the flywheel. keep in mind though it had already had 135k on it but i think the added Hp and Tq just was enough to warrant me getting a T-56. I deiced on beefing up my driveline more before i addded anything else, suspension, tranny, clutch etc etc, just for the added protection down the road. good luck :thumb:

If you don't powershift the trans, it will last a lot longer than if you do.

You can make 300 rwhp all day long and have your T5 live behind it. However, if you start abusing it, it WILL break. Launching on sticky tires won't help much either.

Invest in a TKO 500. The T5 sucks, there is no way around it.

I usually recommend building a Mustang from the back to the front.

ie: rear, trans, brakes, motor.

All depends on what your doing with it. If your just street driving it its fine, Ive seen Fox's w/ 500 RWHP with stock T5's and it was fine but if you go to the track and are getting good traction and making a good amount of TQ then your T5 is a ticking clock providing you don't snap an Axel first.

Just learn how to build a t5 and you'll be alright. I've replaced something in mine more than I can count. BY now I could have gotten a tko and saved money. If you do keep it I would upgrade your gearset from someone like astro performance. I ended up doing that but the t5 has alot of weak links

At the cost of a G-force T5, you can get a TKO 500 that will be just as strong if not stronger. The T5 case is not exactly super strong either.

Yep. The 94-95 came with the taper bearing on the front of the mainshaft.
