Ive heard the TFS-1 works well with gt40 heads. I currently have the combo just havent had any time to do the swap yet. If you do a search there is lots of topics about this.

I have been considering a stage 1 for some time but wondered if there is that much difference between stage 1 and stage 2?

So lets say I go with the tfs 1 ... I found a nice used set of 1.6rrs. For 90 bucks...said they have 500 miles on them....what's the advantages and disadvantages of 1.6 vs 1.7 rockers....I have to use 7/16 stud mounted ones...

If you use the TFS1 with 1.7rr, you MIGHT have to notch the pistons. I heard some guy JUST had enough clearance without notching, but what works with someone might not work for you. Check PTV clearance first, I know for a fact stage 2 NEEDS notched pistons to be used, or else I would have gone with it ;).

what heads are you running to have 7/16 studs? If it came w/ those you shouldn't even consider running that shitty of a cam.

Stage 2 cam is too big for stock heads. yes, GT40's are stock heads.

You need to upgrade the springs to at least the $100 trickflow spring kit.

Always run 1.7 rockers when you can, they help with valvetrain stability.

Always check PTV, its easy, use a checker spring and the converted lifter, the lighter spring will let the valve drop farther giving you a bigger recess than you actually need.
