I was driving around town today and stopped at a store to meet my wife. I got out of the car and there was coolant spewing out out a large crack in my radiator. I got the car towed home and now need to decide what radiator to buy.

The cars still has a pretty stock npi motor but eventually I want to do a pi swap and some cams and headers.

I have heard bad things about Mishimoto so that is out. I am looking at these 2.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I tried for 45 minutes to post some specific links of some nice choices but couldn't do it and my heads about to explode. But you can check these sites. They have a very nice selection for what you need:
CaliforniaMuscleParts.com, CJPonyParts.com, MustangUnlimited.com and finally~American Muscle's ebay auction has a nice brand new "open box" Mishimoto for $50.00 with 29 hours left to bid.
Sorry for not providing links. I need an aspirin.

Go with stock, it'll handle the PI swap plus more

+1. My aftermarket aluminum radiator I had(no idea on brand, came with car and had no markings) cracked and I got a stock replacement from O'Reilly's. Couldn't be happier, it does well even in our 100+ weather.

Thanks guys, I will probably just go with a stock replacement. I like to upgrade things when I replace parts but I have heard about alot of cracked aluminum radiators.

Whatever you decide, get the radiator with the best warranty. Any radiator can leak for any reason no matter the price tag.

Good advice! I am going to buy a stock replacement from a place called Performance radiator. They have a local store and I have used thier radiators in alot of Toyota trucks with no problems.

Thanks guys!

I got myself a brand new performance radiator in my battle to fight an overheating issue.

I ended up pulling it out and put the 2 core aluminum one back in. Just didnt shed enough heat. (I even wired the fans on constantly)

:dontknow: People can say stock is fine. But it didnt work out for me. Now mine runs cool in the Houston heat. :thefinger:

I ordered a stock replacement from CJ Pony parts last night...cheapest around, only about 130 bucks.

The 03/04 Cobra unit is a good piece for the money. When going aftermarket get some flexible mounting parts to absorb the twist and vibration. Thats what causes the aftermarket to fail. Mishimoto has some cheap that work with their rads and fluidyne etc.

That's what I'm doing if my second misho goes on me. How is the fit of the 03/04 cobra radiators?

Well then, I almost didnt even notice the car in the background. Anytime you are ready to do a members ride section photo shoot, feel free to include yourself! Ok sorry back on topic now.

I'd say better than good enough, and with that I'll sit back and watch the leg humpers come out.
