there is a kid i go to school with and he just got a subaru impreza rs and said he beat an 03 mustang gt the other day and i called bs and said i would run him so he agrees. I was just wondering how fast these imprezas are and it is not a wrx or sti and i have a 94 mustang gt with cai and catback.

But anyway, there is generally 3 types, the regular or rs imprezza, then wrx then sti.
The rs is n/a and even the brand new one is a 2.5 with like 175 hp, still slow, wont even come close to beating a 03 gt, yopur 94 gt.
Hell, it cant even beat a 99-04 v6 mustang.
Might even be a good race with a 5 speed 94-98 v6 haha.

i was the first one to call bs on him and told him a 03 gt has the 4.6 dohc and would stomp me and then i said i would run him and he said his awd will tear me a new one from a stop and the i asked if he knew how much torque a mustang has.

a 4.6 dohc would stomp you, but a 4.6 sohc gt is not that much faster than you, in fact, your car might be just as fast down low with the 5.0, but up top the 4.6 will start pulling away.

Eh, it depends on your opinion of a lot faster.
Theres too many variables.
A slightly modded 5 speed 94-95 5.0 should be able to keep up with if not beat a 99-04 GT.
They are quite a bit faster than 94-98 stock for stock though.
With equal drivers a 99-04 GT is probably about .5 +- faster in the 1/4 than a 94-98 gt.
From what ive heard it only takes gears and a couple bolt ons to make a 94-95 gt faster than a 99-04
A lot of it depends on the driver....Ive never lost to a pi gt...my cars probably barely faster than a pi gt.

my point exactly...gears, o/r pipe, maybe cobra upper/ lower and 95-95 5.0s are pulling 99-04 gts like nothing.

yea, but theyre newer, more reliable...less miles...more "power" stock.
I think that you can always find a good deal on a stang if you look long and hard enough. I mean, I got mine with low mileage and it is in great condition, for a really good price. From that standpoint I would say that If you found a 94-95 and did some work to it, like others are saying, u can make it perform as well if not better for a cheaper cost.
