Anyone have any recommendation on a good setup? They seem to be relatively cheap, but you also need a install kit in most cases.

You guys have any experiences with them? I'm using a OEM pan (foxbody if it makes a difference), looks like some of the kits come with a pickup, some only come with 4 studs. It obviously needs to handle a little bit of torture.

On my old 5.0 Mustang, I threw on a Canton oil pan and windage tray and that combo leaked like a mother f**ker. I would only **** with a pushrod 5.0 oil pan if the motor was upside down on an engine stand.

I hear ya. It's coming out in the next month. I have some crap in the motor and it just ate the 2nd oil pump in 2 events. So I'm taking it out and I may as well get my accusump and and a windage in there.

i have a canton in mine (4.6) and its been leak-proof since day one. Road trip, no leaks. Sitting in storage, no leaks. Regular driving, no leaks.
The quality was fantastic. they did make me buy the "install kit" but they were just studs to use in place of oil pan bolts.... not a big deal.

and I would only eff with a 4.6 pan if it was upside down, too.

Go with the actual tray with the holes, stay away from the "screens" type.

The screen type doesn't really do much since the oil can still splash through the hole tray.

I'm probably gonna go with a Canton 15-644 pan. It has everything already built into it including trap doors so oil cannot leave the sump during hard cornering. I was just thinking of the tray, but I think in the long run the pan is the way to go. I really want it to clear the 4 point lower brace, and I hear that a starter replacement is interesting to say the least.

it would still scrape the oil off the crank, i would imagine.

I got that same pan for the 4.6.... quite a simplistic "why didnt i think of that??? doh!" pan. sealed up perfect too.! traded the moroso for it.

I just got #71 in the garage. Gonna start the engine removal, kinda rough when it's 90 in the garage. But I have until the 2nd weekend of August.

looking for a pan with pickup, $340 is the best price I've found so far for the 15-644 with the pickup and dipstick. Wher'd you get yours Chris?

i literally had to hunt mine down. I found it off ebay. even called the ebay store before ordering to make sure it wasnt just a "back order" auction to get my money now and then hold it until Canton decided to pump out a few more. lol.... luckily they had 3 in their warehouse.

my uncle had trouble with the moroso pan on his truck, so i wasnt exactly excited about it when my tuner bought it for me... (especially after I asked him to hunt down the canton unit...)

So, when I found one, there was no hesitation to ditch it.
