First of all that's just wrong. No race car driver wants understeer. They want perfect balance of the vehicle, that way tires don't slide and don't overheat and stop gripping half way through the stint.

Secondly, the reason why those LM cars as you call them run wider tire in the back is because most of them have the physical need for more grip in the rear because more weight is in the back. Most of those cars have a 35/65 weight distribution, so bigger tire is needed to stick more weight.

I 've heard good things about these tires and was considering getting a set for myself.
