I'm not new here but I am new to the 2v world. I'm trying to figure out what all I need exactly. I have a local guy that has a motor out of his 2000 gt with 66k miles but has a bent #8 rod. I'd like to get the heads/cam as well as the intake since my "new" car has a cracked one (image that). Now my question is with the cam gears I realize one is bolt on and one is not. Are the cam gears the same size so I could basically take the heads off that motor put them right onto mine without issue? I have searched but there is ALOT of info and so if anybody could either answer or link me to the anwer i'm looking for it would be greatly appreciated. If this engine falls through i'll just get a PI intake and i'm assuming that'll bolt on without issue?

Thank you very much for any help

oh yeah and a 3/8 NPT tap for the extra coolant sensor.

bolt on = romeo? press on = windsor?? i dont remember, someone else will know. lol.
your 96 gears should work fine, i would use whatever comes on the PI cams though.

i have FRPP romeo headbolts and FRPP crankshaft pulley for sale as well. along with a 70mm thorttle body.

the PI intake is pretty much a direct bolt on. carve out a weekend.

Pretty sure romeo is bolt on and windsor is press on, but don't quote me on that.

so windsor heads/cams will take more than i'm willing to spend at this time....I guess i'll just do the PI intake and keep stock heads and cams for now or if I find a set of 01+ cams then i'll go that route. Honestly i'm not looking to spend much money nor am I keeping this car long for very long but at the same time not looking to half ass anything. Heater core is something else i'll be tackling here shortly. WOOHOO! :)

Thanks everybody.

You can use the Windsor cams without issue on your car.
The intakes on the 00 were all plastic from the factory so check it out before you buy it. Only buy it if its the updated Aluminum crossover edition or you'll be back in the same boat your in now with a cracked intake.

thanks man...the engine I found has 66k miles and is nearly complete however has a bent rod in number 8 cylinder. I shot him an offer to see if he'll except and if so i'll go ahead with the swap. I was under the impression the cam gears were different besides the fact that one is press on aand the other is bolt on.

Is there anything else I should take from that long black and put onto mine?
