My driver side vanity mirror lights do not work, but the bulbs are testing fine. Passenger side works without issue - so I suspect the microswitch inside the visor. Is there a way to get the mirror out to repair this without destroying the visor?

I saw different model years where they could pry out the mirror, but this year seems to be embedded pretty deep into the visor and I afraid to pry on it at all.

It's easier to just get a whole new visor than try to fix that one. I've replaced both on my convertible twice since 98. The sun and water leaks are really tough on them.

If you don't mind - where & what did you pay for them? The one's on eBay are rather expensive.

I got driver's and passenger on Ebay from a wrecking yard in Michigan. Paid around $70 with shipping. But mine are black. Black and tan are the easiest to get. Red are hard to come by and usually cost more. Decent priced ones are out there. You just have to keep looking.

That's not a bad price - a guy on ebay right now is asking $498 which is just crazy. I see the coupe model is usually much cheaper and better condition being inside the vehicle. I realize they are different but they look like the same part with a different mount. Is it possible to swap the mounts?

Those are probably new reproductions. You don't need that. A good set of used ones should run anywhere from $40-$70 for both, with hardware. Like I said though, the color will reflect the price. Also, the material too. Cloth is more expensive than vinyl. Mine are cloth. Both mirrored with working vanity lights, delivered was $70. Dorman also sells a set of new replacements for like $140 plus shipping.

Sorry to keep asking so many questions - I decided to try and remove the drivers side sun visor. Took out two screws from the bracket and removed a small push plug and the left side plastic pillar trim. The bracket seems a little loose but not coming out easy - am I missing a step?

Figured it out after removing the center plastic cover and found third screw.

No. I don't have a part #, but do a Google search for "1998 convertible mustang sun visors" and they should show up, unless they've been discontinued.
