So I had my 4v engine rebuilt cam etc, but my issue is when I bought the car it had aem gauges, and they all worked fine, and I’m trying to re connect them all the correct way including the factory oil gauge and connect the correct one to the sending unit, but every time I connect one to ththe guarantee oil gauges goes directly works but once I turn the car on it goes blank back to Low on the oil gauge and the aem gauges go blank in th first pic it shows what the gauges look like when the car is in accessory mode then the other 2 once the car is on and running idk what I’m doing wrong or if I re connected them back incorrectly but I’d like to fix them soon to know I have oil pressure of some sort please and thank you I’m new to forums

Not 100% sure what you are asking but here we go.

And im spitballing a potential problem just to get this thread rolling

A normal setup factory guage is operated by a sending unit thats located on the bottom side of the oil filter adapter. The factory sending unit for the gauge is a simple pressure switch and is activated only when the pressure is high enough. Typically something around 5-10psi. The gauge needle will then move to a predetermined location representing "oil pressure available".....very basic gauge and the very basic sending unit. These sending units fail often.

Your aftermarket gauge oil psi sending unit "should be" a replacement to the factory unit. I say should be because of the money spent on a nice gauge like that, you would want the oil psi in real time details. That sending unit should be of a more detailed sensor capable of oil psi variances. Most likely an AEM brand in conjunction with the gauge to be accurate to the gauge.

Its possible the oil psi sending unit was never changed, remaned factory and doesnt function properly, causing both gauges to represent 0 oil psi.......im spitballing some possible issues here and may not be your issues.

If your issue is an electrical problem, you simply just need to confirm 12v to the gauge and a good ground when key is on.

And that’s what I’m trying to figure out. I mean the car runs fun it idles perfect and sound and runs healthy. The whole ground thing Ana wiring I’m still learning. I know where to hook them up on the sending unit and the aftermarket gauge but once I do so and go put the key in and turn into accessory mode the gauges come on like in the pictures, then once I turn the car on the aftermarket gauges go black/ blank and the oil pressure gauge on the factory cluster go from dead center middle to L automatically the second the car turns over, as well the car takes 6 quarts. It’s a brand new rebuild everything is fresh and when I turn it on for a little and let it idle then shut it off and pull dip stick almost nothing shows on the dipstick I have a aftermarket dip stick form summit tho because my factory one wouldn’t fit with my headers. So I’m trying to knock to birds with one stone here. Make sure I have oil pressure and make mt gauges work or even if they don’t insure that I have oil pressure and I’m not hurting my internals of the engine
