I was looking up the 98 Gt info and it shows tohave either 2.73's or 3.27s.. How can I tell what the car has in it???? Or is there a way?

rpm @ 70mph?

3.27=2000
2.73=1700

which is probably useless because my stock tach is all over the place compared to the autometer

there's a tag attached to the differential cover by one of the bolts. If you have 3.27 then it'll say 3L27 if you have 2.73 it'll say 2L73

hey, if it is 2.73's then at least it will make it feel like a bigger improvement when you swap them out. My 96 had 3.08's and 3.73's felt a lot better

Your car's an auto right? So I'm guessing you have 3.08. Otherwise the manuals had 2.73s unless they got the "gear option" which would have put the manual at 3.27 like mine.

The question is a moot point, no matter what, it's not enough.

At any rate, hopefully by now the tag is gone, or you have a 20k mile creampuff... Bigtangs calculators are the best bet.

my auto had 3.08s...the axle code on the driver side door will tell you what it is...

E is for 3.27s
Z is for 3.08s
M is 2.73

I believe 3.08s were standard so thats most likely what you have.

another way to do it if the tag is gone and say maybe you cant drive the car, lift it up in neutral,mark the tire and spin the driveshaft. if it takes 3.27 rotations of the drive shaft to rotate the tires once then you have a 3.27. you just have to keep a close eye bc obviously 3.27 is about 3 and 1/4 turn
