I have 2002 3.8 V6 5 Speed Manual I picked up for $700. My plan is to turn it into a drift build. I don’t know if I should go for welded diff, swap the rear end to a 8.8, or keep the yukon gear lsd differential I ordered for the 7.5 28 spline. Would like suggestions/opinions
thank you

I really dont know the capability differences of the 7.5 rearend compared to the 8.8 other than power handling. Id say the 7.5 is plenty adequate for the v6 and anything you throw at it. As for lsd, if the car is a dedicated track car, just weld the diff and dont waste money on an lsd.

Yea I went with the yukon gear differential big difference locks up the wheels nice. Throw a Detroit drifting angle kit, bmr springs and k member with a bumper steer kit and camber plates. Got another 3.8 manual for dirt cheap that imma use when it dies. 3k miles with beating on it and clutch went (was slipping before i bought the car). Car drifts really nice. If my yukon diff ever goes imma just weld my oem one.
