I am going to replace my 3.73's cuz they were not installed right and are noisy. Im thinkin about goin to 4:10's anyone know if they are absolutely unusable on the street for what? My car is eventually gonna be just a race car so im probably goin with 4'10s.

Automatic or Manual?

Either way, IMO 3.73 is the best all around gear.

If the car is going to be a race car, with forced induction, I would not do a 4.10 because your just going to have to change it again anyways.

dont fear the gear....i had 3:73 in my old combo ....but now its turned into a 4:30 full spool and 33 splines....mine will be a 5 speed....my buddy ran 4:10s on the street everyday with slicks.....depends on you app....if you run on the highway....4:10 is the breaking point for most....driveability has a different meaning to each own person ......i know guys that run all out drag cars on the street and some that dont want a gear or suspension in there car cause they dont want ride to change....up to you.....i wouldnt be bothered by 4:10 on the highway at 70mph.....but some do...i dont drive my car on the highway at all anymore or never will again.....so a 4:30 was what i needed to make my new combo runs its best for what i want out of the car...also consider future mods to the car...if you want n/a or nitrous for ever...go big....and go big.....if you want a power adder down the road ....stick with 3:27-3:55 and youll be pleased....just my $.02

If your car is going to be street/strip used just get 3:73's and compensate with different tire sizes. Dont get 4:10s for a daily driver on a 5.0 thats just not smart in my opinion.

Also, take it from me when i was modding my GT it really sucks to run out of gear at the end of the track.

I have 4.10's in mine and I love them. I had SO many people tell me that 4.10's were bad idea, but when you get a ride in the car, its a different story. But also like people say, what are your goals?

What the hell overdrive ratio are you running to get to 3500 at 75mph???? It should be around 2700 .

4.10s are not useless like everyone says. 70mph on the highway is 2500, 65mph is around 2300 so if you can deal with that go ahead and get them. For driving around town where you'll never go above 45-55mph 4.10s kick ass. I have 3.73s but I did a ton of research on this before making my choice.

im have a 410 intsalled in mine and on the street i wish i had a 3.73 you kinda lose some mph but at the strip it is perfect so i would say go ahead with a 373 unless you plan on doing tons of highway roll races

I don't know bout this. I have 3.55s and spin 2400rpm at 75mph, at 65 i'm at about 2000rpm. I think with 4.10s it's going to be higher than you say, i thought the general rule was 250rpm per step.

Are you sure your tach/speedo is right? What overdrive ratio do you have? I have 3.73s also and I run about 2350 at 75mph. My speedo is properly calibrated for 3.73s and I'm not talking about the white gear, I'm talking about a 7 tooth internal gear to a 21 tooth red drive gear and stock tire diameter. I have a .68 overdrive in my 3550 which is what I'm pretty sure a T-5 has too.

How are you calibrated for 3.55s? Even the white gear is a little off with the 3.55s as it isn't a ford mesh.

It's been a while but I think i have the white 23 tooth speedo gear. My speedo matches the police radar things so i'm confident that it's within a MPH or two.

Hmmm well maybe one of our tachs is off. I've seen factory tachs be off by like 500rpm before lol.

I have 4.10s and LOVE THEM. My dad wants me put stock gears back in.... there's no way I'm paying for a downgrade.

I don't do much highway driving, but its not that bad when I do. If I do it just right, I can spin the tires a little in 4th. That makes me smile.
