Rebuilt 302 with a solid HCI and a Vortech.

You'll tear up the streets and it is easy as shit to build.

Boost does not come w/ out its issues remember that as well, slipping belts, squeaking belts, blown head gaskets are all issues that can creep up with boost applications. Some people have no problems others have on going problems, flip a coin for which side you fall on

The 95R did have the cobra intake but it was still a 351 lower. It was built as a road car not a drag strip monster like the new Cobra Jets. The 95R did not have much for 351 specific type parts as far as the H/C/I which really held it back. Once I get mine running and tuned on the dyno this spring we'll see what the 351 95R can really do.

my goal is street/strip. my goal for the drag strip is low 12s. and i will be happy with that

Put a blower on the car with some basic bolt-on's & slicks and you can run 12's, do a H/C/I with a blower and slicks and you'll see 11's.

If you dont know if you can afford a turbo setup, chances are you can't...

Just keep it simple, get a blower, install it over a weekend and drive the car monday to a tuner. Done.

if your doing a 351/408 and all you want is low 12's then why are you even considering boost? Do the right H/C/I set up and some suspension mods with some slicks and you should be all set. You shouldnt have to keep piling on more power mods to reach goals, there are other ways to do it b/c everyone seems to forget about traction and suspension. Honestly If I had boost on my 351 and all it ran was low 12's b/c it didnt hook for crap then that would be really sad

if you go ahead with a 408 then you should have no issues with low 12's with a good h/c/i package. you would not have to do a full drag suspension. Just do a nice set of upper and lower control arms and some slicks and with the power of a 408 you should be all set. I'm fully expecting 11's this year with my 351 w/ out the aid of nitrous or boost. Ive aleady hit mid 12's with a non compleated suspension set up and not the best h/c/i package but all of thsy is straightned out now

A decent 408 setup is at least a 6k dollar commitment..... add at least 3500 - 4k for a blower or turbo.

And you aren't sure if you can afford a turbo setup? I think you are answering your own question.

Ok maybe im reading this wrong but what heads do you have for the 408. Machining and rotating assy will cost as much as a turbo kit from on3. Good heads for a 408 are close to 2000 on the cheap side.

I have a set from ford racing unsure exactly what ones they are right now everything is put up for winter.
Turbo from on3 is about 1800 plus I need injectors, pump a tune new piston, rings bearings etc... The motor needs a rebuild anyway.

Is find out exactly what the heads are before you go ahead and assume your all set with heads for a 408 build
