I took it out again and discovered the problem. The button that clears the trip gauge sticks too far out on the new cluster. Any body install a new edge cluster in their sn?

Yes . Had to modify the trip reset plunger on the back side. Been a while. Seems like I removed some material from the back of the plunger pin with my dremmel tool. Use your original as a reference piece and use a little patience. Sorry, not too much help at this point.

I ordered a standard '98 black replacement lense/bezel from Sacramento Mustang and a '99 35th anniv. unit was delivered in a box marked "black". It went with my Med. Charcoal interior so well..... I kept it.

I think if I just cut the little thing thats holding it out so far, it will work. But easier said than done... thanks for the help.

You stirred a memory! I held the plunger up so I could cut off the pedestal to a shorter length using a dremmel tool loaded with a small cut-off wheel. Damn. It was driving me nuts at lunch!

No... just the cluster, the plastic cover.

That is exactly what I was planning on doing but I just haven't been able to come to terms with cutting a nice piece. Did it work fine after??

Oh yea. Simple little mod. Just cut it off straight. It looks damn good in mine as I have the Med. Charcoal interior. I will eventually put a small Ford logo or something over the 35th Anniv. text between the speedo & tach.

Yep! Thats the one. I ordered the standard black one for the '98 from Sacramento-Mustang and they sent me this piece in a box marked "black".
Oops on their part! Liked it so well I kept it.

I had the idea to cut it with a dremel... but I needed the reformation that someone else could cut something like that up. Thanks GD! Haha... but I cut it and then sanded it all the way down just to be sure. Works great and looks even better.
