3rd Brake Light Question Help

So both my bulbs went out and I need some help. The bulbs that fit into the 3rd brake light are 912 bulbs if im right and i have a 906 and 194 laying around. They both work and light up when in the socket but get really hot. Could i use these bulbs or will they melt the Plastic or blow a fuse? Thanks... For a 96 Mustang BTW

there is a chance that you might save yourself $5 whole bucks, while melting that lense. The chance of one of us being a bulb expert and being able to tell you which one runs hotter/cooler = much much less I would guess.

I can get the bulbs but was just wondering if these would have worked. I thought they were interchangeable

i wouldnt risk it for the price tag. ... i know, i have a bunch of those damn extras laying around, too. lol. they drive me nuts. but it will be a much bigger pain to roast the socket and fix that than it will be to just get the right one.
