Hey everyone. I am about to order gears for my 96 automatic GT and can't decide between 4.10's or 4.30's. I am not terribly worried about gas mileage since I have a truck that i drive around most of the time and the car won't be driven daily. Since I plan on keeping the car N/A for a long time, I am considering 4.30's. Do you guys think this is too much gear for a basically stock car? I know 4.30's would be fun but I don't want to over rev my car too much. Thanks in advance for any help given.

I think 4.30's would be to much for an auto. I don't run mine hard in o/d, and with 4.30's it seems like you would have too.

With my 4.10's and the o/d off I hit the rpm's quick.

I agree with outlaw.

might be too steep with the auto.

Go with the 4.30's. It will be perfect with your auto and for the 4.6. Later on if you can swing it, get a good converter too. You WILL NOT be disapointed.

4.30's and an auto might be perfect for a full boogy N/A car....with a good TQ Convertor and your shift points readjusted you would definately get that heavy car going in a hurry.

I don't think there is enough between the 4:10 and 4:30's to complain about the steeper gerars.

Yea but dude we are more used to a longer RPM range and totally different power band. 4:30s in a basically stock auto GT will be overkill. Maybe if the car were built up some more, or saw primarily track use. I say for a GT, with what? 5300rpm redline, 4:10s = purrrrfect.
