Engine has developed some rod knock again, so I know I'm on borrowed time with it. This happened before and I just went the cheap route and replaced the rod bearings, and it was fine for the last 2 years.

Well now it is back, and I'm thinking this time I should rebuild the whole engine. I don't know too much about engine rebuilds, and have been looking at forged kits from MMR, but I guess my question is whats the best route to go on a cheap budget to get decent power? I have a PI swap, and am going to switch out the cams for some Comp Stage 2s, but regarding the bottom end I don't really know where to go with it.

Thanks for any suggestions or tips guys

i took mine to one of my local engine shops and used new stock internals, reused the crank and had new rods and pistons put in. I paid $690 for all the work and a new bottom end.

If its not going to be raced, and your not going with a power adder, just go with a basic rebuild and use the stock crank, and get some better pistons. No issue using stock if you want to save some money but the OE crank is defiantly fine
