4R70W issues: HELP

Hey everyone:

The last few days that I have noticed my auto transmission acting up. When driving it normally the car usually shifts below 2k from 1st to 2nd. Now it is shifting after 3k then catches. When you jump on the gas for a moment, the car will start to take off, then the rpms will start to climb like the car is in neutral. There is no check engine lights, and there is fluid. Any advice would be great

Yea, unless you can rebuild it yourself its not gonna be cheap.

At that point you might as well look into an upgraded unit from BC automotive, dirty dog, lentech, whoever.

justinschmidt1, what exactly would you recomend going with? I just want to do it right. Just a bummer, because I just picked up new PI Heads.

Had some time tonight to mess around with the car. I replaced the 1-2 accumulator springs along with the piston which yielded it no results. Back to the drawing boards

my converter picked up metal from the parts shattering and damaged it. that had to be replaced also.

If its first gear have you notices the car doesn't go into drive sometimes when you put it in d?

When you put the shift selector into any of the gears it will go into that gear and drive fine. Under light acceleration the car will shift at 2900-3000K. The most annoying part is when you go around a corner and the car stays in 1st gear and doesnt shift out again 3k. It is still not throwing codes, and I did not see alot of shavings in the pan. Maybe a sensor, I won't know until I data log it. Keep up the suggestions guys, I really appreciate it.

Ok, well if the car is popping out of first and into neutral in first gear it could be the shift position sensor.

If I were you before you do anything else I would get under there and check the alignment of the sensor.

Loosen the two bolts that hold it and it should rotate either way a bit.

Put the shifter in N.

There should be lines that line up when the sensor is in the right spot.

Make sure they are lined up and tighten the bolts down so the sensor wont move anymore.

Thanks Justin, I will play around with it tomorrow when I get a chance. It makes when the car is 80 miles north up at my parents house.

My dad took the car to the shop today and they believe that the clutches for 2nd gear got burned up which is causing my issues. Does this jive with anyone?Also, has anyone ever heard of this before?
